Bathtub Refinishing – A Quick, Easy, and Inexpensive Way to Update Your Bath
Quality tub refinishing is a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to update your bath. Refinishing will improve the overall look of your home and increase its value.
If you are refinishing your tub, it is important to use a quality product. Many of the bathtub refinishing products that are sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s, hardware stores and over the internet fail to meet minimum standards for durability and performance. Some even use paint and other improvised solutions that will not last as long as a professionally applied product like PureCoat.
Quality Tub Refinishing: Restoring Elegance and Functionality
The refinishing process starts with a thorough cleaning of the bathtub to remove any dirt and grime, followed by sanding and the repair of any chips, cracks or rust. After a primer is applied, multiple coats of the new finish are then applied. A new sealant is then put on to protect the finish and keep it looking good for years.
Choosing a quality refinisher is also important as not all refinishers are created equal. Some refinishers don’t take the proper precautions to protect your bathroom from over-spray or exhaust the chemical odors of the refinishing products. Some do not use a local exhaust ventilation (LEV) unit which has a fan, flexible ductwork and a hood to exhaust flammable and hazardous chemical vapors out of your home.
Another alternative to bathtub refinishing is tub liners which are basically acrylic shells that stick over your existing bathtub and can be custom fit to any size or shape of tub. However, tub liners are more expensive than refinishing and have a much shorter lifespan – less than 10 years.
